Working with the caballeros at Moss Moss, with Tucker Phillips directing and collaborating with Geoff McFetridge was a blast.
The whole thing was shot practically, with Geoff actually skiing down the mountain while a giant illustrated gorilla was strapped to his legs. There was talk of leaving Geoff’s arms and legs poking out behind the prop, but in the end, my job was to remove all the unwanted Geoff bits and make the yellow illustrated gorilla look like it was genuinely skiing down the mountain.
Fun spot all around, full of clever in-camera and post-production gags that are easy to spot and give the piece a super charming, transparent, hand-drawn vibe, if you can do hand-drawn video work. Geoff’s illustrations, of course, are hand drawn and fantastic, and yellow. My favorite color. Go figure.
